What is ThreadMap?

ThreadMap is a site dedicated to a single purpose: helping users explore and navigate Second Life. It brings together video and imagery from various locations in SL, allowing you to vote on, rate, and share comments about Second Life media to help others find interesting places and people.

ThreadMap aggregates images and SL videos belonging to the same region, so you quickly see what a region looks like by clicking on the map or search results, instead of having to teleport to each and every region.

You can upload images and SL videos and tie them to specific regions. Videos can be uploaded directly to ThreadMap or linked to YouTube.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free?

Yes, it is absolutely free to all users. We make money via search-sensitive ads.

I can not find my region in search results.

Simply upload a picture from that region and it will appear in a couple of minutes.

Why are there no pictures for my Second Life region?

Our bots visit non-adult regions accessible to the public. You can always upload pictures or media for your region if our bots did not yet take pictures of your region or if your region is private.

I don't like the pictures taken by the bots for my region. Can I remove them?

Yes. There is a small trash can icon below the image. Click on that icon to request removal of the media taken by the bots. It will be removed in a couple of hours. Note - you can not remove media posted by other users, you have to contact us in this case. Bots are not perfect, and we actually do appreciate when people ask for removal of bot images that do not meet the standards. If you would like your region to be permanently removed from ThreadMap, please contact us using the form on this page.

After I upload media, can I change tags or descriptions or remove it?

Yes, you have complete control over your media. Go to Manage Media.

Do you use avatar or camera coordinates to pinpoint a region?

We use camera coordinates when determining a region, and we use the same camera coordinates for the teleport location associated with the media. If for some reason the coordinates are incorrect please contact us.

What are your guidelines for adult regions or media?

All media posted should be 'safe for work'. It means you can post media for adult regions as long as descriptions and the media itself are 'safe for work'.

What is 'safe for work'?

'Safe for work' means you can show your media to your boss or head of Human Resources in your company.

Who are you?

ThreadMap belongs to Korka Systems Inc., an NYC-based privately held company. We believe that by making software to augment Second Life features we can attract more people to new ways of collaborating and exchanging information.
