Why we built ThreadMap

ThreadMap is here to make exploration of Second Life easy, fun, and fast, especially for new Second Life users.

ThreadMap aggregates Second Life images and SL videos belonging to the same region, so you take a look at the region by simply clicking on our Second Life map or selecting the region from your search results, instead of having to teleport to each and every region.

How to use ThreadMap

ThreadMap is all about visual representation of Second Life content:

Click on any image you see on the home page. A higher resolution image or the embedded video will appear on the left. Now you can watch the video, enlarge the image still further to see it in more detail, or teleport to directly to the region. All other media belonging to that region will appear on the bottom of the screen. Click to see each in detail. You can also rate and comment on media, and submit tags for the region.
Explore SL Map: click on the green 'Map View' button and then just click anywhere on the map to view postcards or videos from that location. Once you find something that interests you - click the green 'Teleport' button to launch Second Life and teleport directly to the location.

Our Second Life tag cloud provides a convenient way of looking up regions or Second Life images or videos simply by clicking on one of the tags. The more popular the tag is the larger it will appear in the tag cloud.

Upload Second Life Images and Videos to ThreadMap

Do you own or know a great Second Life sim? You can upload Second Life images and SL videos and tag them with specific region names. Videos can be uploaded directly to ThreadMap or linked to YouTube.

What is the difference between linking to a media and linking to a region? When you link to a media you link to the specific media you see. When you link to a region, you link to the specific region you see; when people visit region link they might see a different media (from this region) because we automatically display highest-rated media for a region link - this way as time goes by your region link will always show and lead to the best media in the region.

Submit tags or description for this region

You can submit tags or description for a region. Important: all submissions are first reviewed by ThreadMap before they are accepted in order to prevent abuse.

To increase chances or your submission being accepted please follow these guidelines:

1. Think about other SL users - put only those tags/descriptions which are helpful to others.
2. Avoid advertising or promoting your goods in the description - there are Paid Ads for that.
3. If too many of your submissions are rejected your rating goes down and decreases chances of all subsequent submissions.
